About Dr Manley

Dr Russell Manley is a general surgeon with a subspecialty interest in upper gastrointestinal and endocrine surgery. He graduated in 2006 from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Biomedical Science and a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS). Subsequently, he completed his internship at the Gold Coast Hospital and his junior medical and surgical training within South East Queensland. 


He was admitted as a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2018 and completed further subspecialty training in upper gastrointestinal and endocrine surgery at the Gold Coast University Hospital.


Dr Manley is accredited as a visiting medical officer at Gold Coast Private Hospital and Pindara Private Hospital. He is also employed as a staff specialist at Robina Hospital and holds the position of deputy director of surgery.



He is involved in the teaching and education of surgical trainees, junior medical staff and students and supervises medical students from both Bond and Griffith universities where he is a senior lecturer. Dr Manley is also engaged with ongoing research and has presented at national conferences.


As well as general surgical conditions, Dr Manley manages and treats common upper gastrointestinal and endocrine conditions. His specialties include Laparoscopic hernia, Gallbladder and anti-reflux surgery, Thyroidectomy, Parathyroidectomy, skin malignancies, Endoscopy and Colonoscopy.


Dr Manley has called the Gold Coast home since 2007. He loves the active, sun filled lifestyle that the Gold Coast provides together with his wife and two young children. He feels privileged to be able to contribute to the healthcare needs of the Gold Coast.
